Christmas Eve at Grandma Rose's House

Over the river and through the woods.....every Christmas Eve morning, I wake up, get dressed, and head to Grandma Rose's house with my sisters. When we get there we start assigning jobs: setting the table, frying the bacon, spam, and sausages, taping the Christmas cards up, figuring out how many seats we need, orange julius maker, cheese cutter....etc. As we each go about our duties we hear April humming sweetly in the kitchen while she does her designated job of cooking the crepes. Soon, the kitchen and house are swarming with cousins (only the grand daughters), smelling delicious, and feeling of fun, hunger, and happiness.

This year we completed our food preparations in record time and were sitting around the table, eating, laughing, and goofing off in no time at all. When brunch was over we cleared the table, and did the dishes, while Grandma told us not to. It seems to be tradition each year to not listen to Grandma's disputes. When the house is clean again, we sit down and enjoy the company of family.

We took advantage of the chance to take pictures with Grandma.

Each year we make new hilarious memories. Last year Grandma gave the excellent advice of, "Never tell a boy that you are hot, or sit in his lap." We were laughing all day and teasing each other about it. This year we played Taboo. (In years past Grandma has been SO funny playing acting-out games. One year she had to act out 'stripper' and I think we all about died.) This year, Grandma acted out 'Indian Summer', 'Undress', and 'Cross Dress.' I'm sure you can imagine how funny it was.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
