Pantoum Poems

I taught my students how to write Pantoum poems. It's very fun and it's perfect for the kids that are a little older and need to be pushed a little further with poetry.

Here are some examples from my kids! Keep in mind just how amazing they are because these are coming from 11-12 year old kids!!!!

Pastry's

Hot out of the oven.
They are silently waiting.
I absolutely love 'em!
They're waiting for the plating!

They are silently waiting.
The pies filled with sweets.
They're waiting for the plating!
The shop is filled with delicious treats!

The pies filled with sweets.
Oh, they bring me much joy.
The shop is filled with delicious treats!
Some for every girl and boy.

Oh they bring me much joy.
I absolutely love 'em!
Some for every girl and boy.
Hot out of the oven.

America

Oh America the brave!
Its banner up high.
America was saved.
Let the light shine bright!

Its banner up high.
Spotlight on the banner.
Let the light shine bright.
America really matters.

Spotlight on the banner.
The stars shine so bright.
America really matters!
A land with a lot of light.

The stars shine so bright.
America was saved.
A land with a lot of light!
Oh, America the brave!

WWII

Sitting in the trenches
Bullets whizzing by your head.
Ducking behind destroyed park benches.
Not being able to go to bed.

Bullets whizzing by your head.
The British and Russians are on your team.
Not being able to go to bed.
Always hatching a clever scheme.

The British and Russians are on your team.
Winning the war with an Atomic Bomb.
Always hatching a clever scheme.
Now we can go back to our Moms.

Winning the war with an Atomic Bomb.
Ducking behind destroyed park benches.
Now we can go back to our Moms
Sitting in the trenches.

(Do you catch the cool hidden meaning in the last stanza?)

And here is one of mine. I had a race with my kids to try to help them focus on getting the assignment done. ha ha.

Art

Fill my heart with passion.
Show me the sound of color.
Give my mind satisfaction;
My soul a sense of wonder.

Show me the sound of color,
Paint it in my life,
My soul a sense of wonder,
To ease my daily strife.

Paint it in my life
With colors a vivid hue,
To ease my daily strife;
The dullness washed anew.

With colors a vivid hue.
Give my soul satisfaction,
The dullness washed anew.
Fill my heart with passion.
